Bum Briefing #7
Well this briefing will be.. brief as there aren’t many updates yet. There will be a lot to come as next week I get a MRI and CT scan with another eval by the oncologist team so the following week’s chemo will be accompanied with an update as well as any adjustments to the final two rounds.
There is a story about my grandparents that keeps popping up in my mind early on in these treatments. Maybe one of my immediate family members can correct it if I have the details wrong. Growing up my grandpa would drink hot water out of a teapot with meals. I never really understood why, pre-internet there really was no way to look it up on my own and I didn’t want to ask. Later on in life the story I heard was that one day my grandpa was giving my grandma a hard time about the quality of coffee she made. I’m sure there are some details I don’t know about the conversation but what I recall is she said she’ll just give him hot water so he said, “fine.” From that day on he just drank hot water instead of coffee.
Well one of the side effects I’m having is my throat feels like it’s closing up if I drink cold liquids. So I’m drinking warm water all day. It’s an acquired taste. The side-effects to chemo are progressive. Some days I feel like I’m crushing it… other days not so much.
I also want to thank everyone for all their support. Everyone has been so helpful, from mowing our lawn (and weed whacking— thanks, Brent!), to sending gift cards, get well cards and meals.
Here is what the chemo ball was that Eric had to carry.
